Background & Approach
Explore Your Journey
Always fascinated by people and their stories, I gravitated naturally to psychodynamic theory and practice. I believe helping people understand why they engage in certain behaviors, relationships, and thought patterns can be a powerful and meaningful process. Even when a symptom feels confusing or self-defeating, it is often rooted in an attempt to meet an unmet need. In our work together, we explore the core needs underlying these patterns and develop more satisfying, sustainable ways to meet them.
Over time, however, I came to see that insight alone is often not enough to create lasting change. Many people come to therapy already highly self-aware—they understand their patterns clearly, yet still feel stuck repeating them. My approach integrates intellectual understanding with embodied nervous system regulation, within a therapeutic relationship grounded in safety and trust.
In sessions, this often means slowing down. We may pause to notice what’s happening in your body as you talk about past experiences or current concerns. When discussing what matters most to you, we’ll pay attention not only to the content of your story, but also to how it feels to tell it. Together, we’ll build awareness of the physical sensations connected to your emotions and practice staying present with them, so these skills can carry into your daily life. We’ll also develop small, intentional “projects” between sessions to help you gradually step out of patterns you already know are holding you back.
